Is this type of learning experience for me?
Here are some tips, suggestions, and insights from former Creative Connections learners to help give you a sense of what to expect from this course.
How is this course different than other art courses you have taken?
It’s much more different than any other art classes/courses I’ve taken because you get to choose what you’d like to do. What I mean by this is you get to choose, and plan out an idea that’s creative whether it be drawing, building, or more. Instead of being told what you need to do, you get to freely brainstorm, and choose an idea.
You can be more independent with your work. With other art class I feel as if I'm forced to work on projects I don't like or have no interest in.
In the other art classes I've taken in high school I never got to pick how I wanted to go about making art I always had to do whatever the teacher wanted and in this class we can all answer a problem in our own unique ways
How do the challenges in this course help you grow as a learner?
These challenges can help you grow by showing you that with time, and being able to do what you want, you can overcome motivational factors. It may take time but with more thinking, and creativity you can grow as an artist and get many things done with future pieces.
These help us because in my opinion these projects push us to become better.
What advice would you give to someone that is considering this course in the future?
That its a great course if you have the drive. I know people who would be great in this course, but I also know people who wouldn't. In that same token I think that this is a class that most people should take because it teaches way more than just creative based things. It teaches time management, self awareness, and gets us prepared for things that might happen in college.
My advice would to be choose what you want, and make sure you’re really interested in that idea whatever you may do for a project. You have to have a good work ethic in order to pass this class, it’s a very easy and exciting class to be in. So, with that I’d say have fun, explore, and challenge yourself.
